Refund & Cancellation Policy

1. Stripe Subscriptions (Czechlesson Premium)

Premium access is sold as a recurring subscription and billed by Stripe. You can manage or cancel your subscription from the Stripe Billing Portal (linked from your billing dashboard).

Cancellation timing (why you may still see access after canceling):

  • If you cancel and Stripe is set to end your subscription at the end of the current billing period, you will typically keep Premium access until that period ends.
  • You can still log in and access your account/dashboard even after canceling; your account remains active.
  • After the paid period ends (or if the subscription becomes inactive), Premium-only learning content becomes locked.

Refunds for subscriptions:

  • Subscriptions are recurring and provide immediate access during the billing period.
  • As a default policy, we do not provide automatic prorated refunds for unused time in a billing period.
  • If you believe a charge was made in error or you had a technical issue that prevented access, please contact us and we will review the case.

2. 1:1 Lessons (Booked via Calendly)

One-time lesson bookings are separate from Premium subscriptions and follow the policy below.

These services are delivered in real-time via video conferencing at your scheduled lesson time.

By booking a lesson and completing payment, you acknowledge that:

  • The service begins immediately upon your scheduled lesson time
  • Digital educational services are exempt from standard withdrawal rights once delivered
  • You expressly request immediate service performance at your chosen time slot

3. Right of Withdrawal (14-Day Cooling-Off Period)

Under EU Consumer Rights Directive (2011/83/EU), consumers typically have a 14-day right of withdrawal for online purchases. However, this right does not apply to Czech Lesson services because:

  • Services are fully performed during the live lesson session
  • Performance begins with your express consent at the scheduled time
  • You acknowledge waiving withdrawal rights when booking lessons

By completing your booking, you explicitly agree that the lesson service will be provided at the scheduled time, and you waive your 14-day withdrawal right pursuant to Article 16(a) of Directive 2011/83/EU.

4. Lesson Cancellation Policy

Cancellations by Student:

  • More than 24 hours before lesson: Full refund or rescheduling available
  • Less than 24 hours before lesson: No refund; rescheduling subject to availability
  • No-show (student absent): No refund; lesson considered completed

Cancellations by Teacher:

  • Full refund or free rescheduling if teacher cancels for any reason
  • Notification provided as soon as possible

To cancel a lesson, please use the Calendly cancellation link in your booking confirmation email or contact us at support@czechlesson.com.

5. Lesson Refund Processing

Approved refunds will be processed as follows:

  • Payment Method: Refunds issued to original payment method (Stripe)
  • Processing Time: 5-10 business days for funds to appear in your account
  • Notification: Email confirmation sent when refund is initiated
  • Partial Lessons: No partial refunds for lessons partially completed (e.g., student leaves early)

6. Exceptional Circumstances

We understand that emergencies happen. In exceptional circumstances (serious illness, family emergency, technical issues beyond your control), we may offer:

  • Lesson rescheduling outside standard cancellation policy
  • Credit toward future lessons instead of refund
  • Partial refunds on a case-by-case basis

Please contact us as soon as possible to discuss your situation. We evaluate each case individually and will work with you to find a fair solution.

7. Lesson Package Refunds

For multi-lesson packages (Standard, Extended):

  • Before first lesson: Full refund available (minus any promotional discounts if applicable)
  • After lessons begin: Refunds calculated for unused lessons only, at single lesson rate (no package discount applied to refund)
  • Example: Extended Package (4 lessons, 2,880 CZK with 20% discount). If 2 lessons completed, refund = (2 unused lessons × 900 CZK) - admin fee = 1,750 CZK

8. Disputes & Consumer Rights

If you are not satisfied with our refund decision, you have the right to:
